Norman Thelwell was a popular British cartoon artist born in 1923. His first pony cartoon, published in 1953, resulted in a huge fan following that led to over 1,500 cartoons being published over a 25 year period.
Thelwell’s cartoons can be appreciated by all, especially horse enthusiasts. Riders of all ages and abilities can relate to the scenes depicted in the cartoons. From young riders on saintly ponies, misbehaving menaces, fox hunting mishaps and more, they’re guaranteed to bring a smile to your face or bring back a memory about a naughty pony that was determined to do the opposite of everything you asked. We’ve all experienced a Thelwell moment!
